With its exceptionally fragrant, fully double white blooms, 'Gardenia' is a treasured peony variety perfect for gardens and cut flowers. One of the most fragrant peonies.


  • Type - 'Gardenia' is a double bomb type herbaceous peony (Paeonia lactiflora).

  • Bloom color - The flowers open a blush white and mature to glistening white.

  • Blooming season - Mid to late spring.

  • Flower size - Large, fully double blooms grow up to 15 cm across.

  • Plant height - Compact plants grow 60 cm tall.

  • Foliage - Deep green divided leaves.

  • Fragrance - Intoxicating fragrance reminiscent of gardenias.

  • Unique traits - Abundant blooms on strong, sturdy stems that don't require staking.

  • Awards - Recipient of the American Peony Society Gold Medal.
